Description
CHICAGOLAND EYE CONSULTANTS SC is seeking an Optometrist to join our patient-centered ophthalmology practice in Chicago. In this role, you will provide comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings, and co-management of medical and surgical eye care including cataract, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease. You will collaborate closely with ophthalmologists and clinical staff, utilize advanced diagnostic equipment, and deliver compassionate care to a diverse patient population. Ideal candidates value teamwork, clear communication, and are committed to excellence in community-focused vision and eye health.Provide comprehensive eye examinations, including refraction, binocular vision assessment, and detailed ocular health evaluations
Diagnose and manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, dry eye disease, and acute red eye conditions
Prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses, including specialty and medically necessary lenses, and manage contact lens fittings and follow-up care
Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging (e.g., OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, corneal topography) and incorporate findings into treatment plans
Co-manage cataract, refractive, and other surgical cases with ophthalmologists and other specialists as appropriate
Educate patients and families about eye health, diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care strategies
Document all clinical findings, prescriptions, and care plans accurately and promptly in the electronic health record system
Collaborate with technicians, opticians, and administrative staff to maintain efficient patient flow and a positive patient experience
Ensure compliance with professional standards, state regulations, and practice policies, including HIPAA and infection control protocols
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, practice development efforts, and community outreach activities as requested
Comprehensive eye examination techniques
Refraction and visual acuity assessment
Diagnosis and management of ocular disease (e.g., glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration)
Contact lens fitting, including specialty and medically necessary lenses
Interpretation of diagnostic imaging (OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, corneal topography)
Use of slit lamp biomicroscopy and indirect ophthalmoscopy
Prescription and management of therapeutic pharmaceutical agents for ocular conditions
Electronic health record (EHR) documentation and clinical workflow management
Clinical decision-making and differential diagnosis in primary eye care
Patient education and counseling on eye health and treatment options
Co-management of surgical cases with ophthalmologists
Knowledge of HIPAA, infection control, and relevant state practice regulations

Current Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited school of optometry
Active and unrestricted Illinois optometry license or eligibility to obtain prior to start date
DEA registration (or eligibility) for prescribing medications as required

Professional liability (malpractice) coverage
BLS/CPR certification for healthcare providers
