About Ocean Park Optometry
For 50 years, Ocean Park Optometry has been a trusted name in vision and eye health care on the Westside of Los Angeles. Founded in the 1970s, our practice has proudly served generations of families in Santa Monica, Culver City, Marina del Rey, Venice, and surrounding communities. Many of our patients continue to return to us—even after moving away—because of the long-standing relationships and personalized care we provide.
In September 2025, we will begin the next chapter of our legacy with the opening of our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility at the corner of Lincoln and Ocean Park in Santa Monica. Designed with both innovation and comfort in mind, this modern space will feature advanced diagnostic technology, a beautifully curated eyewear gallery, and a welcoming environment that elevates the patient experience.

Our Legacy and Commitment
Our practice was originally founded in the 1970s by Dr. Barry Kummer, whose vision and dedication established a strong foundation for patient-centered eye care. Following Dr. Kummer’s retirement in 2002, the practice was acquired by Dr. Sarah Ito, who has since guided its growth with a focus on advanced technology, fashion-forward eyewear, and comprehensive care.
Over the years, we have built a loyal and growing patient community, reflecting both the trust we have earned and our unwavering commitment to excellence. In 2022, Dr. Ito’s son, Dr. Klaus Ito, joined the practice after completing his residency in anterior segment and scleral lenses at the University of Virginia, marking the continuation of a proud family legacy in optometry.
As a team, we remain dedicated to lifelong learning and continuous innovation, always striving to elevate the quality of our care, services, and products for every patient we serve.
